Chateau de Marouatte dates back to the 11th C and was fought over by the English and French for 300 years. It's currently the home of music mogul, Miles Copeland III and his family. Miles had been hosting songwriter retreats since the 90's, which included artists such as Cher, Carole King, Olivia Newton John, Keith Urban, to name a few. Miles recently started holding artist retreats at the castle, found my website and invited me to host a painting retreat there for 2020. Of course, that fell through when Covid hit, but we've done 2 retreats there since. Miles entertained us with all of his stories about managing Sting, The Police, The Go Go's, The cramps, etc. ; and how he booked Tina Turner once, and about the time he got to hang out with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.
He also is an encyclopedia of historical facts, and gave us lots of juicy tidbits about the castle and surrounding area.
